NBT-C: Foreign Development Tops Five Billion C-Bills

Tharkad, April 30th— The monthly report from the Estates General Development Committee disclosed an unusually high level of activity for the month of April. The Marian Hegemony was issued a government loan in excess of one million kroner, while the Federated Suns approved a multi-national business acquisition in excess of two billion c-bills. With Comstar fiscal fees measured, the Committee reported total transaction in excess of two and a half billion kroner.

“The Hegemony transaction was made at the behest of Caesar Vincent Calore’s government, who saw a favorable decrease in construction materials on the galactic market and wished to secure funding in order to exploit the opportunity,” the report stated. “With the consent of the Alliance Council, a loan was issued at a four percent interest rate.

Additionally, a Federated Suns’ based company, Allied Metals, began takeover proceding of Fort Loudon Agriculture and Mining in early April. Such an arrangement requires the consent of both the Council and the Estates General, which was granted after negotiations on April the 26th, 3069.”

Though Development Committee decisions are made behind closed doors, Alliance by-laws require monthly reports with full disclosure. These recent developments have been not been lost on the average Lyran businessman, with the Stock Market showing a strong upsurge of related Marian and Federated Sun stocks.

NBT-C: DCMS Defeated on Fort Loudon

Editor's Note: Belated broadcast by an INN correspondant, Maus, due to a HPG malfunction, namely me.

---

INN broadcast, May 4th, 3069:

We are just getting reports in that the planet Fort Loudon came under attack by a raiding party from the Draconis Combine. The planet’s location along the border with Combine has made it the victim of numerous unprovoked raids and other military campaigns throughout the years. A reinforced lance of assault and medium battlemechs reportedly made an assault drop into the hills surrounding one of planet’s few surviving industrial centers.

Quitman Brown, commander of the Seventeenth Donegal Guard was forced to order his battlemechs to engage and destroy the Combine forces. Said Quitman, “with this planet bordering right up against both clans Wolf and Jade Falcon I have enough to worry about without having to deal with some psycho snake wanting to raid my planet.”

In a series of maneuvers that pulled several raider mechs out of position, the Donegal Guard was able to surround and attack individual mechs until all Combine forces on-planet had been destroyed in an intense two-hour battle. One Guardsmen reports, “those Snakes were sniping at us with a malfing Warhawk and Gunslinger making things look bad at first. But then the crazy samurais made the mistake of charging their Komodos up ahead after us unsupported. After we dropped those two mechs, it was just a matter of surrounding the assault mechs and hitting them with quick attacks to the rear.”

Reports indicate that the Seventeenth only suffered the loss of two light battlemechs that are expected to be salvaged and see service again. In exchange, the Combine lost close to 300 tons of battlemechs and is not expected to make any more attempts against the planet after their sound defeat.

NBT-HC The Stepps Lost

In a meat grinder style assault, Minnesota Tribe forces were able to overwhelm Alliance ground assets on the planet The Stepps. When asked to comment on the defeat Chairman AC had this to say:

"The Stepps was not a realistic outpost from the start. It is too far away from Alliance supply lines and core alliance industrial assets to be a viable holding. I was impressed that Alliance forces were able to wrest the planet from MT control in the first place and hold it for as long as they did."

NBT-C: DMCS Attacks Skye

COMSTAR ENCODING SEQUENCE SkyeCorp541.C

In late breaking news, previously unidentified dropships on a hot-burn towards New Glasgow have now been identified as DCMS troopships. Sanglamore Academy aerospace fighters made the confirmation despite deterrent fire and a lack of unit markings on the dropships.

“Twas strange, no markings or insignias save for that emblem of the twisting snake on a black background,” Leutnant Angus Thermoplye told Skye News reporters in an exclusive interview. “Though I ain’t a genius, calling your transports ‘Bandit’ on the IFF transponder don’t strike me as terribly imaginative.”

Duke Roberts has denounced the recent spate of aggression against Skye Province and Freedom Theater and is calling for increased military aggression against aggressors in the area. “The Kuritans will get another taste of 2892,” the Duke has promised. Elements of the Skye Guard under Maria Esteban are expected to make a fierce defense of the planet.

NBT-C: Dialogue with the Castilian Alliance

Caldarium, April 18th— After a long and difficult journey through the Deep Periphery, representatives from the Castilian Alliance arrived at the anti-spinward borders of Lyran space to discuss military and economic aid for their tiny country. Their arrival has been hailed by both the Estates General and the Archon as a way to widen the conflict with the Clans and, potentially, disrupt transport operations to and from the Homeworlds to the Occupation Zone.

“Make no mistake we do not regard Castilian assistance as a dramatic diplomatic coup against the Jade Falcons,” a government official, who asked not be identified, was quoted as saying. “However, any added dimension to this conflict can only improve our chances for success.”

NBT-C: Unsanctioned Attacks Launched Against Draconis Combine

Lyons Thumb, April 17th— Elements of the 17th Skye Rangers and 3rd Royal Guard have crossed into Combine occupied territory in apparent retaliation for a series of Combine cross-border raids. However, General Sarah Joss, Margrave of the Freedom Theatre, was quick to denounce the attacks as not sanctioned by her command.

“The 3rd Royal Guard were to be rotated to New Earth, but choose halfway through transit to join an unauthorized attack by the 17th Sky Rangers against the Draconis Combine,” General Joss reported to Tharkad in military document that latter became availible to media sources. “Additionally Hauptmann-General Poulin cannot account for the actions of the 17th. We both believe that General Maria Esteban played a role in leading this attack and request official sanction from LAAF High Command.”

There has yet to be a statement released by Archon Steiner’s government on recent events, and some rumors have emerged that the military document was leaked by unidentified source rather than cleared for release. Unauthorized action by a Royal Guard unit is extremely rare and a frustrating turn of events for the Archon.

NBT-C: ComGuard Forces Deployed to the Alliance

Tharkad, April 15th— The Lyran Alliance and Comstar have recently completed contract renegotiations that will see the deployment of additional ComGuard forces to strengthen existing units stationed in Lyran space. Additionally, Comstar has promised to provide fiscal funding to help build garrison facilities for their forces.

“Comstar has been the HPG provider of Lyrans for centuries and we see no reason to change that,” Ambassador to Comstar Richard Ewin said shortly after the announcement. “Their forces will be deployed to protect major hyperpulse generators and help defend the Lyran people from aggression.”

The measure to renegotiate with Comstar had already passed the Estates General and the subsequent vote to approve garrison postings is expected to pass handily.

NBT-C: Wolf Dragoons Attack Solaris Game World

Solaris VII, 6th April— In the early morning hours for Solaris City residents awoke to news of several Dragoon jumpships arriving at the system nadir point. Surprise quickly turned to dread as the Dragoons disgorged multiple dropships on combat burns toward the planetary surface.

LAAF forces were caught unprepared for the attack, given the peaceful relations with the Free Worlds League and relative distance to recent fighting. Only a token garrison was present on planet and Kommandant Ernest Kursk found himself forced to call upon patriotic Lyran duelists to defend the game world. As a result, several stables have voluntarily lent pilots and battlemechs in response, enough that Kursk has assembled an ad-hoc force dubbed the ‘Solaris FTM’.

However, the planet is not alone and LAAF was quickly alerted by an emergency HPG broadcast. The elite 3rd Royal Guard, stationed on Dalkeith, have already left for Solaris and should arrive shortly after the Dragoon’s make planetfall to reinforce the militia defenders.

The Wolf Dragoon’s appear to be under contract and have asked that LAAF forces stand down at several key industrial centers. Kommandant Kursk has promised to defend Solaris and, given the size of the invasion force, many are concerned that the Dragoons could inflict severe damage on the urban and industrial centers of the planet.

NBT-C: Avanti’s Angels Signed to Extended Contract

Outreach, 2nd April— With the eruption of hostilities along the clan border, LAAF High Command recently finished contract negotiations for the elite Avanti’s Angels regiment. This contract is geared to responding to military aggression directed against the Lyran state.

“Despite the actions of former Archons, the Lyran people are peace loving,” General of the Armies Adam Steiner said in a prepared press statement. “We have no intention of preemptive military action, and the contract with Angels is intended to help secure our borders against aggression.”

Opposition has emerged in the Estates General as financial payments were agreed too without Estate sanction. Robert Kelswa-Steiner called the contract a blatant unilateral decision designed to provide foreign military support to an unpopular Archon. He has petitioned for an objection to be logged by the Chancellor of the Peoples in the Alliance Council. Archon Peter Steiner-Davion has responded, arguing that a quick decision was necessary rather than weeks of factitious debate.

NBT-C: Jade Falcon Break the Truce

Graus, 1st April— After almost four years of peace, Jade Falcon warriors have crossed in force into Lyran territory. The attack came as little surprise, given the collapse of LAAF resistance on Blair Athol, the jointly held treaty world, in March. The High Command was quick to execute two counter-offensives into Jade Falcon occupied space at Sudenten, the clan administrative capitol, and Pandora, an important industrial world.

Archon Peter-Steiner Davion denounced the clan assault and defended LAAF actions in a press conference held shortly after news of the attack. “I fully support the decisions made by General Adam Steiner and Margrave Thanom Hammerskjold. We knew that war with the Jade Falcons was inevitable and the LAAF had been preparing contingency plans since 3065. I repeatedly warned the Jade Falcons that aggression would be met with force, but sadly they have chosen to ignore my pleas. Now, much as before, it appears our only option is to batter the Falcons back to the negotiating table.”

A batchall has been issued by the Jade Falcon attackers to the 6th Lyran Guards RCT, tasked with defending Graus. Leutnant General Theodore Hess promised to defend the planet with his entire force in what appears to be the beginning stages of a long and costly war.

NBT-Classic To Begin on April 2nd-

NBT Administrator Dark Phoenix had this to say, "Initial Unit Setups Processed / Initial Funds Deposited: Everybody who has finished their unit setups is now processed, all resources placed on planets, initial funds deposited and units set to Active. You will not be able to jump outside of your space until Monday afternoon, but you now have full control over your unit, internal to your own space.

This will enable units to get their Jumpships loaded and moved into attack positions, as well as moving any needed resources around before combat actually begins. We have a couple automation items to finish up (map assignments to terrains) before any battles can be processed (though they will be able to be launched). I am hoping to open up combat drops this evening, or tomorrow at the latest. Thank you for your patience."

Ghost Bear Sighted in the Outworlds

Dneiper, 20th November— For the first time, a Ghost Bear jumpship has been sighted in the Alliance, holding at Dneiper’s jump point. No dropships have been detached, nor have any intentions or challenges been broadcasted. Air Arm assets stationed on Dneiper have scrambled to intercept, but given the distance from the nadir point, analysts are predicting the fighters will arrive only shortly before the jumship’s Kearny-Fuchida drives have recharged. Despite the clan’s silence, speculation abounds on Dneiper over their intentions.

“It’s distressing to think how far they penetrated into the Outworlds,” one citizen remarked during one of Dneiper’s council meeting. “You think they might be wanting to retaliate for those raids we launched a year ago?”

“As I reckon, we got our butts handed to us,” someone else replied.

“Protect the sheep!!!” another shouted, oblivious to the rest of the conversation.

The council quickly voted to move the sheep into protective bunkers until the crisis abated. Bessy be praised.

Continued Attacks

THIS IS A INDEPENDENT NEWSCAST BROADCASTING

Corraines has been hit by another wave of attacks by Clan forces and so far the agenda is not clear! there so far 2 clan forces in OA space,Clan Coyote and Clan Diamond Shark. Coyote are rumoured to have said the other clan will move on after honour battles. Leaving Coyote in the Alliance space. Our sources have also suggested that the AMC think Coyote are out to take the Outworlds Alliance over completely though as yet we've had no confirmation on this.
What is known is that there are a large number of Clan Coyote ships evident in Alliance space and it's apparent that despite being beaten off once , Clan Coyote seem very determined to hammer Corraines into submission

The new armaments factory on Ramora has produced its first batch of heat sinks and the local technicians have gauged their reliability at 89%, which is above the average for those produced within the Alliance. Due to this unexpected new supply of quality coolant systems, the pulse weapon systems warehoused on Lushan have been moved out of deep storage and are available on request to all units operating on the Draconis Combine border. Units wishing to access the new heat sinks are warned that a small group of raiders operating on the surface of Ramora may delay shipments.

A Bad Day to be a Pirate

After extensive recon operations around the last known locations of a fleet of pirate jumpships, several bases belonging to the pirate group Minnesota Tribe were uncovered uncomfortably close to Alliance space. The AMC acted swiftly yesterday and launched several raids with the goal of crippling the ability of these raiders to launch further attacks on critical assets belonging to the corps. Although AMC forces sustained heavy casualties the operation was an outstanding success. During the prelininary stages of the raid a mech storage depot was found hidden in what initially appeared to be a derelict governmental palace. A large force of Alliance mechs was able to completely destroy the defenders and recovered the stored mechs intact, including several extremely advanced chassis and some mechs that were identified as having been stolen from the Outworlds Alliance in the past.

Elsewhere, an unusually well equipped chain of military bases belonging to the Tribe was identified in an orbital scan by a dropship carrying rienforcements intended for the raid on the mech storage bay. After learning of the success of the advance forces, the dropship commander decided to touch down near the bases so the mechs on board could cripple the large number of mech repair bays that had been identified during the scan. Two lances were deployed and they were able to completely destroy 70% of the repair bays that were present before deciding to return to their dropship due to heavy damage taken by many of their mechs. Unfortunately, persuing pirate forces were able to destroy them before they made it back. Despite these losses, the incredible damage inflicted on Minnesota Tribe facilities and mech supplies means that the pirate group will have difficulties in causing further trouble for the Outworlds Alliance.

After-Hour Classes Lead to Diplomatic Breakthrough

Alpheratz, Outworlds Alliance, October 24 – Retired Director Sara Keyes, professor at Alpheratz’s prestigious Air Service Arm University, is not a diplomat but may be on her way to becoming one. After class discussions with one of her students, Nathan Alger, a resident of the Circinus Federation and cousin to President McIntyre, provided a surprising diplomatic channel between President McIntyre and President Avellar that may lead to a diplomatic conference.

“Nathan would approach me after classes to ask questions,” said Professor Keyes. “Discussion centered on opening an aerospace academy similar to what is ongoing in the Marian Hegemony. Then one day Nathan told me he had been in contact with his uncle, H.R. McIntyre, about our talks and McIntyre had asked Nathan to relay several questions he had about such a venture. Imagine my shock!”

Keyes immediately contacted her superiors, who forwarded the information to the Service Arm and, eventually, President Avellar. Avellar decided this was a golden opportunity to broach relations with the Federation and directed Keyes to respond to McIntrye. The dialogue continued for several weeks before public news sources discovered the channel. President Avellar immediately proposed a diplomatic meeting, which the Federation hesitantly accepted, on the conditions of a neutral meeting ground and that Keyes and Alger are present. The Circinus Federation promised to contact the Rim Collection, who maintains strong relations with the Federation, about the possibility of sending a delegate.

“The official position of the Avellar administration is one of cautious optimism,” said Carlos Ferdinand, media representative for President Avellar. “We are obviously excited over the possibilities present in these negotiations; however we understand that serious diplomatic issues must be resolved. In particular, the Federation’s volatile nature and human rights abuses are concerns, but we hope these may be addressed at a meeting.”

Minnesota Tribe Targets Alliance

Morthac, Outworlds Alliance, October 12 –Dark Caste bandits launched more attacks against the Outworlds Alliance this week, bringing the total number of raids to nine. Mothac, Dante, Cerebrus, Coraines, and Wais have confirmed Tribe raiding detachments; with Cerebrus and Coraines having previously been attacked. Before, Cerebrus militia defeated an abortive raid on an Alliance Mercantile Concern Battlemech facility, while Tribe forces secured passage for a jumpship through Coraines. The latest string of attacks has Service Arm analysts scrambling to reinterpret Minnesota intentions.

“While the Minnesota Tribe has, reportedly, launched attacks across the Inner Sphere, there is otherwise little historical evidence of particular targets,” said Dr. Robert Kenthall, Professor of International Relations at Alpheratz University, and contracted analyst to the Alliance government. “The Minnesota Tribe appeared to launch random sorties against nations, staying long enough only to gather salvage. This history predicated a similar pattern in Alliance space. Yet, these raids represent the largest military concentration of the Minnesota Tribe in over six months, suggesting the Tribe may have relocated near Outworlds space. Though pure speculation, the Tribe’s limited success here, and comparative lack of success elsewhere, lends credit to their concentration against the Outworlds. Future Tribe attacks are likely, and may continue for some time.”

Chairman Aaron Christopher has vowed to defend Alliance space against the Minnesota threat, stating that efforts are underway to determine if the Minnesota Tribe has established a base of operations near Alliance space. In the event that the Tribe’s headquarters is discovered, a task force will be mobilized to deal with the raiders.

Algero Falls to Draconis Invasion, Counterattack Launched

Alphertaz, Outworlds Alliance, September 16 – Military officials have confirmed, despite spirited resistance, that the anti-spinward planet, Alegro, has been occupied by the Draconis Combine. Details are sketchy, but DCMS troops overwhelmed under equipped militia forces in a series of brutal slugging matches across the planet. Shortly afterword, a reinforced battalion of Avellar’s Guard was dispatched to retake Alegro.

The 2nd Battalion, Avellar’s Fist, under the commander of Chairman Michael Nielson, is nominally tasked defending Alpheratz. Chairman Christopher, however, ordered the commitment of the elite unit to retake the planet. Elements of the Long Road Legions and various militia commands are also present.

“It is the intention of this Task Force to retake Alegro,” said Director Nielson. “The Alliance Military Corp will not tolerate the loss of any Alliance planet. The brave men and women in this command will see to that.”

There is strong hope that success will halt Draconis ambitions in the Outworlds. Given recent diplomatic efforts, many speculate that the Combine intends to de-scale military action following the successful planetary assault. However, the Avellar administration says that conflict is inevitable so long as Alliance planets remain under Combine occupation. Recent polls indicate that a majority of Alliance citizens support this stance.

Draconis Combine Initiates Halting Peace Talks

Alegro, Outworlds Alliance, 8 September -- Though at least a regiment of DCMS Regulars are on planet, Draconis officials met under a flag of truce to discuss the cessation of hostilities between the Combine and Alliance. Their demands include the occupation of Alegro before any official peace talks. Alegro Parliamentary officials were quick to reject any such demand.

“Of course, the Alliance cannot concede and I fully support the Alegro Representatives on this matter,” said President Avellar. “The chief reason of existence for this government is to prevent the loss of any Alliance planet. No Alliance world will be conceded without a vigorous defense.”

Despite the rhetoric, it is unlikely Alegro’s militia will withstand the pending assault. Many parliament members have gone into hiding and all commercial dropships and jumpships have departed the system; many loaded with refugees fleeing the conflict.

Military Pact Reached Between the Two Alliances

New Earth, Lyran Alliance, 6 September – Delegates from the Outworlds Alliance, having traveled a long and circular route through the Federated Suns, met with Lyran Alliance representatives in order to create a defensive treaty aimed at combating Draconis Combine aggression. This move comes after the planetary invasion of the Alliance planet, Alegro, by DCMS troops and subsequent breakdown in relations between the Outworlds and Combine. The diplomatic procces is expected to last several weeks, but both sides are committed to providing aid.

“Militarily, the Outworlds Alliance can pursue several diplomatic options that we have not allowed in the past, if that makes any sense,” said Ambassador Mike Keegan, delegation chief for the Outworlds. “This includes allowing transit rights for several organizations with anti-Combine agendas and freezing all trade between the Outworlds and Combine until the cessation of hostilities.”

“As of right now, the AMC has no military agenda beyond defense,” said Chairman Aaron Christopher. “Given the number of organizations attacking the Combine currently, we feel that any offensive on our part would be superfluous, but that does not rule out action at a later date.”
